Everyone teaches. Do you believe that? No? Think about it. If you have kids, you teach them how to behave right. If you have a partner you probably ‘teach’ them about your preferences, your likes and dislikes, and vice versa. If you employ people you teach your underlings how things are done in your business. If you sell things, you ‘teach’ customers how you do business. And on it goes.

I’ve always maintained that the best way to learn a topic is to teach it. When I teach something to someone, I take extra steps to understand the topic. I’ll rehearse, I’ll practice, and I’ll type additional notes. All this serves to drive the information deeper into my tiny brain. When we take on a teaching role the focus is directed at the student, the audience rather than ourselves
So I say – to learn it, teach it.
The best teachers have an innate ability to inspire their students or audience. They excite them and expand their vision of what is possible with the subjects being taught. If you want to bring out the best in people you should aim not only to impart raw information. You should also strive to bring the raw information to life. How can you do it? Illustrate with stories, case histories, and examples.
Also, consider modifying your delivery style. An animated and lively style will help to keep your students or customers involved and enthused about the topic. This will automatically draw them closer to you. Same comments apply to the written word. Practice writing in a more engaging way so the reader will be much more likely to devour your article.
Contrary to the methods taught by old style marketers, you don’t need to adopt the persona of a hard sell salesperson to succeed. Indeed, often it’s better to simply educate your prospect about your products and the benefits associated with them. If you do it well you’ll sell up a storm.
When you educate prospects they will automatically have more trust in you. They will think that you have their best interests at heart, and will, therefore, open up more to you.
The other important aspect is that when you educate about your product you automatically build desire. This is especially so when you illustrate with testimonials, case histories and other forms of third party validation and social proof.
There are many ways to do it, both offline and online.
Offline techniques include brochures, proposals, print ads, sales letters, reports and self-published books. Other than print media, education can take the form of interviews, speaking engagements, workshops, and seminars.
Online methods are many and varied. Ideas include a website, social media, blog, e-book, digital reports (PDF), YouTube videos, podcasts and guest blog posting.
