Pleasing Activities Versus Pleasing Results.

by Kim Willis on April 17, 2011

Years ago I heard this guy – a super motivator – called Paul J Myer.  He ran a company called SMI, aka Success Motivation Institute.  And I will never forget one thing he said:

“The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that the successful people do what the unsuccessful people WILL NOT DO.  In particular the successful people are focused on pleasing results, whereas the unsuccessful people are focused on pleasing activities”

True or false?  Well I have seen evidence of it this week – again.   People who simply will not do what needs to be done to get their business off to a quick start.

They stuff around with all this internet stuff because they’re too emotionally fragile to talk to their best prospects – the people they already know.  Which is what ALL, and I mean ALL, true entrepreneurs do.  They work their existing networks.  That is how business done all over the world.  It’s about networks, as stated.  Something is amiss here.

Now don’t get me wrong.  I would prefer to do internet marketing and nothing else.  But sometimes other strategies (such as offline) are much simpler, and faster.  Which duplicates the best?  Simpler and faster every time.  Even if simpler and faster is harder from a rejection and ‘threat to our fragile ego’ point of view.  Certainly not harder In a technical sense.  On the contrary.

You want to make the BIG money?  You want to have a vastly better lifestyle than you have now?

Then do what u absolutely have to do to make it happen.  Stop putting road blocks in front of you.  No more excuses, no more blame game.  No more cop outs.  To get to the big money you have to make the changes necessary to get that sort of result.

Here is the problem.  Most people do not want it bad enough.  Simple as that.  Dexter Yager from Amway, said if the why is big enough the facts don’t matter.  Most do not want it bad enough.

They’re happy to amble along like the tumbling tumbleweed, hoping that something good will come their way.

Where do you stand on this issue?  Do you have a big why?  Do you want it so bad your heart aches for it? No?  Then you’re not ready for the big league.  Give it time, work on yourself and it may happen for you.  It’s ok.  I’ve had long periods where I didn’t want it bad enough.   Sometimes desire and time is all we need to get to that point where things start moving forward powerfully.
