You Don’t Have to Be a Steve Jobs to Harness the Power of Creativity

“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R & D dollars you have.  When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R & D.  It’s not about the money.  It’s about the people you have, how you’re led and how much you get it.”

Someone called me a genius once.  He said I was a marketing genius.  Fancy that.  Flattered I was, but my inflated ego didn’t last for long – 12 months later my business went bust!  Genius? Huh, I don’t think so.  But I think a lot of us have periods in our lives when we have ‘flashes of genius’.  That was probably me.

Steve Jobs has been  called a genius.  And judging by his results, and the fact he enhanced the lives of  millions of people, he was a genius.  Unlike many traditional business people he gave a lot of  weight to the creative process, hence the above quote.  It was creativity that enabled him and his team to create more amazing devices than IBM, with a fraction of their R&D budget.

Business IS a creative process.  If you’re in an mlm or direct sales business look on yourself as a problem solver.  What is the essence of problem solving?  Creativity.  The ability to think creatively to solve someone’s problem will attract people to you , like bees to a honey pot.  Problem solving is a creative process, no doubt about it.

What problems can you solve? If you market a health product you can help people get well again.  If you promote the business opportunity you can help people overcome the drudgery of employment.  Ideas abound, but one thing is certain: if you ask people the right questions you WILL often uncover problems that are crying out for a solution.  All you gotta do is ask!

My experience has been that when I ask people targetted questions my creative juices start to flow because my brain moves into problem solving mode.

You don’t have to be a genius like Steve Jobs to make a ton of money in business, particularly network marketing or direct sales type businesses.  However, if you embrace the concept of creative problem solving, you will have flashes of brilliance as you help prospects solve their problems.
