The recent ructions about the so called fiscal cliff ‘crisis’ in the US got me thinking. I’ve been wondering why most economies around the world have gotten themselves into such a mess. Most of the economies with big fiscal problems are western economies (Japan being the Asian exception) – they’re still in a mess, nearly 20 years after going into recession. One characteristic of affected economies is that governments are up to their eyeballs in debt. This is partly/largely due to the gigantic welfare programs that have grown like topsy over the years. To make matters worse, a time bomb is ticking away because the ageing population, made up mostly of baby boomers (the greedy generation?), is beginning to consume vast resources as they retire and get sick. Baby boomers are an interesting demographic. They’re the ones who voted in big spending governments to fund their pet causes and programs. And now younger generations will increasingly have to foot the bill for their profligacy. Poor bastards. I think we can learn from all this……. Seems to me that people seek favors from government because they believe they don’t have power over their own lives. They see themselves as being somewhat helpless and want Big Papa to step in and make their lives easier. So sad. On the other hand entrepreneurs take a different approach. They take total responsibility. They have inner confidence in their innate ability to generate their own income and create wealth. The difference is night and day. Two mindsets. Two pathways. Which one for you? Whether you’ve done an entrepreneurial thing before is not the issue. What is at issue is your attitude. You either believe you can make it on your own (without a boss), or you don’t. Because you’re reading this I reckon you already see things my way. Correct? Good. Speaking of entreprenurial activities. Building your own biz from home is a great way to go.
