Posture is something that most trainers never talk about. But having the right posture when you talk to prospects is critical. If you don’t have it the chances of scoring big results are dim.
What is posture? Firstly it has nothing to do with your physical appearance – it’s purely a mental game. Win it and – all other things being equal – your results will increase exponentially. It’s as simple as that. Having posture is about projecting confidence in such a way that you command respect. Note that it is not just another word for confidence. Some people are confident but have zero posture. It’s only when you add in the 2nd ingredient – ability to command respect – that the magic happens.
How to command respect? Mmm, it’s a hard one, but the good news is that it can be done. If a boofhead like me can do it, you can do it too! To increase my posture I did some physical things – I created a blog, I got active on social media sites, and above all – I took massive action by calling lots of leads. Even though I was hopeless initially, the mere fact that I WAS active gave me a boost of confidence and knowledge. Sharing the new knowledge got me more respect. One fed into the other, and bingo! – I was projecting posture.
The other thing I did was to assume the role of Consultant. My attitude was that I had the solution and my prospect had the problem. This approach worked brilliantly and contributed to my amazing results in my first month with each of the four programs I’ve marketed since 2006 ($8,000 – $15,000 in month one with every program!).
