How to Write Good and Sell Stuff 10

Tenth Lesson.  Tools, Fools, and Jewels

Yesterday’s Lesson: Pick a Fight When You Know You’re Right

Hey hey, it’s tool time.

Not quite.  Writers don’t need many tools.

I only use two writing-related tools:

Grammarly. A fabulous tool to help you improve your grammar, punctuation, and spelling. A day doesn’t pass without using Grammarly.

Hemingway. An excellent companion to Grammarly. The main benefit of using this straightforward software is that it will force you to break up your text and use simpler language.

Do you need writing tools?  Maybe not.  But I can say without fear of contradiction that both of the above tools have markedly improved my writing.  They’ve forced me to take a more disciplined approach to writing.  They’ve saved me time too.

End of lesson and end of series, eh?  Not quite.

Effective marketing is not just about writing.  It’s also about strategy and execution of same.

And every strategy requires tools, not just writing tools.  I use lots of tools.  They save me time and money.  Some make me money too (eg, books, courses, and software funnel software).

So, here is my complete list of tools:

Review/Summary of Previous Lessons

Lesson 1: From Retard to Writer. Anyone can be a writer.

Lesson 2: Keep It Simple Stoopid. Don’t complicate things.  Keep it simple so that even a kid can understand it.

Lesson 3: Small is Bootiful (and Bountiful). Small works, but so does big.  Learn the differences and apply them to your writing.

Lesson 4:  Grab ‘Em When They’re Hot. Don’t be a shrinking violet – tell people what to do.

Lesson 5:  Customers, Hero’s and Weirdos. Your customers and their hero journey.

Lesson 6: Headlines, Deadlines, and Breadlines. The lowdown on writing headlines that work.

Lesson 7: Hot Offers for Boffins and Boofheads. A primer on crafting offers.

Lesson 8: Tell a Story For Sales Glory Hot lesson on storytelling, one of the keys to potent copywriting.

Final Thoughts

THAT’S ALL FOLKS! I’m done, but your work has only just begun. It takes plenty of grunt work to make it as a copywriter. Even if you don’t see yourself as a pro copywriter, if you’re marketing anything online, it’s important that you improve your skills – so you can sell more stuff.

Enjoy the journey and please report your results in the Tribe Builder Community group.

Your Homework

I don’t have any official homework for you today. But I do have 2 recommendations: 1). That you embrace some of the tools I’ve mentioned above. 2). That you keep investing in yourself; education should be a life long project. Once again, enjoy the journey!
